Activities in Tommolansalmi

We at Tommolansalmi are thinking of the youngest camping guests as well – there are various activities for children and playful adults of all ages. Almost all of our activities for children are free.

There is a children’s playground and a sandbox beside the restaurant. The playground is stocked with various puzzles, drawing aids, books, toy cars and sandbox toys. There are also children’s water toys available at the lakeside sauna.

Other area reserved for children is near the outdoors kitchen. You can find trampoline and swings there.

We have free bicycles for children available for free (limited number of sizes).

Sporty families can get skis, ski boots and ski poles for free for all family members, but please let us know in advance what your boot sizes are. In the winter children also love to go sledding if there's just enough snow for that.

Sometimes there is also an opportunity to try ice skiing and ice skating.

You can also fish, bike, hike or row a boat here, for example going to a nearby island for a family picnic. You can get all you need from us (also life jackets). On our new travel website www.visitlakekorpijarvi.fi you will also find tips for hiking trails for families with children.

There are also volleyballs, badminton equipment, croquette sets, bowling sets and handlines available at the camping’s reception. You can use our playing field – see its location on the campsite map.

Guests accommodated at the camping can also get various indoors games from the reception desk. There are game consoles in the cottages and you can borrow game console games from the restaurant.

There are several swimming sites on the bank of Lake Korpijärvi. Our sandy beaches have low depth and are child-friendly. There is a private swimming beach in front of every cottage and the lakeside sauna. We also have a public swimming beach with a changing cabin beside the restaurant. Most of our activities are for free. Still, we would like a rental fee for fishing gear (except handlines), rowing boats and adults' bicycles. Prices are in our price list.

Mäntyharju movie theatre called "Kino" (Kompantie 22, Mäntyharju)

The movie theatre called “Kino” is a digital 3D cinema showing new movies for the whole family. There are a lot of English films with Finnish subtitles.

Children's adventure trail / forest playground (Urheilutie 1, Mäntyharju)

A year-round adventure trail and mountain bike road for children aged 4–12 years in Mäntyharju. Open year-round, free of charge. Skiing and ice skating possibilities and sledding hill for children in the winter.

Ski Tornimäki (Metsä-Sairilantie 4, Mikkeli)

The winter sports centre in Mikkeli offers great cross-country and mountain skiing opportunities for the whole family. You can do a lot there – snowboarding, mountain skiing, cross-country skiing, slaloming and slope-sledging to name but few.

Valkealatalo swimming hall (Toikkalantie 5, Valkeala)

The swimming hall is a great place for families with children to spend time, because it also features a children’s pool and a bathing pool. The swimming hall’s building houses a fitness gym, a wrestling hall, a ballgame hall and a café. There is also a skating trail with maintained ice and a lit skiing trail in the neighbourhood.
